Hi friends! It has been a while and I’ve so missed writing these little letters. January was full and beautiful. We started the year with a cosy trip to the UK to spend quality time with family. We got to have a little taste of winter (needed with what feels like endless summer that we get here in FL), went on so many walks, soaked up the crisp morning sunshine, played with the dogs (so much), cooked a lot and got see more of beautiful Wales.
Some January delights have been:
a frothy chai latte
going out into the early morning fog with a cup of tea
buying new books with UK covers
fresh milk and eggs from a local farm
cuddling with the dogs
fish and chips at the coast (with copious amounts of salt and vinegar)
making sourdough with my mum
cooking for family
Julius Roberts’ new cookbook
winter sunshine
finding photos of little me and loving her
coffee shop hopping in Bath
getting recommended books and loving them
the delights to be found in a cheese store
leek and potato soup
an early morning swim, coming out of the warm into the crisp air, all bundled up
trees in the winter
after dinner games of Farkle with family
leaving the window open a crack while you sleep and being able to smell the fresh air
the air in Wales
Ozone coffee in London
Dishoom (the best Indian food maybe ever)
getting into fantasy novels
milk and honey sourdough
finding the perfect shell to make a beeswax candle
walking downtown by the water the morning after we got home from our trip, feeling so peaceful and grateful to live here
bumping into friends at coffee shops
having a fire
walking more
salt and pepper shakers from Earl of East
God’s perfect timing with bringing me the exact things I need
going to bed at 8pm
coconut water and lime juice
Pollen bakery in Manchester
having a little herb garden on our balcony
voice notes from friends
feeling so peaceful at home
listening to Judah make music
a hot bath
What has felt delightful for you this January?
Love, Em x
Lovely to have you back here Emily and thank you for sharing this list of gorgeousness. January was full for us too, both of my children’s birthdays fall in January so it was very celebratory. We also had a trip away from the UK for some warmth which was like a balm (although I found it strange to get my head around leaving winter behind!) xx
I’ve recently made vanilla cupcakes with lemon curd icing (the icing really made these), potato soup with bacon, sour cream and cheddar, and Amish beef and noodles. Nothing too crazy but all comforting in their own ways.
In Feb, I’m looking forward to starting my daily mindfulness posts, and longer days with more daylight. I’m an early bird (usually wake around 445) and am so eager for the sun to come up earlier than 7am 😆
